Christmas Thoughts, aka Marley’s Ghost

While watching Dexter, the ongoing story of our favorite serial killer, one of the minor characters said:

“We all die sometimes.”

Which I at first thought was rude until I remembered my mother’s unspoken philosophy:

“Death is not an option.”

Now I feel much better, even though I have a cold given to me by a co-worker who didn’t/doesn’t have the sense to go, and stay, home. And, as you probably know, death is sometimes preferable to a cold, especially if you haven’t had one for about 5 or 6 years.

DEATH TO THE SPREADERS! Hack them up, make them landfill; piss on ’em.

an army of frogs
a bale of turtles
a business of  ferrets
a cete of badgers
a charm of goldfinches or hummingbirds
a crash of rhinos
a dray of squirrels
an exaltation of larks
a covey of partridge or quail
a convocation of eagles
a gaggle of geese
a gam of whales
a grist of bees
a hover of trout
a knot of toads
a husk of hares
a pod of whales
a span of mules
a wedge of Swans
a kindle of kittens
a sleuth of bears

And, finally, out of order, but my favorite:

a murder of Crows

A human being is part of a whole, called by us the 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest-a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. - Albert Einstein
